I know I shared a poem in my last blog, but I have one more poem to wrap up the time we\u2019ve spent on active listening. \u00a0Maybe it will help you remember to use body language to show you\u2019re listening. Active listening is truly a gift we can give to show others they are valued and we care.<\/p>\n
LISTEN

Usually your quick wit is captivating
\nGushing from your mouth like a compelling waterfall
\nI smile, eager to be pulled into the current<\/p>\n
Often your words are soothing
\nShowering my parched soul with much needed rain
\nI uncross my arms, grateful to soak in every drop<\/p>\n
Sometimes your discussion is informative
\nSpouting like a fountain of knowledge
\nI lean forward, inspired to dip my bucket for future use<\/p>\n
Occasionally your chatter is repetitious
\nFlowing endlessly like a faucet with no shut-off valve
\nI nod, saturated but wringing out my clothes to take in more<\/p>\n
Sporadically you complain or vent
\nSpewing unchecked from a broken pipe
\nI mirror your expression, sopping wet but determined to endure the storm<\/p>\n
Through it all
\nYou are worthy of my full attention
\nThe world can wait
\nSo let the words flow
